Ethical Framework for XR
In her keynote, Anna will give an overview of current trends and ethical challenges for the XR industry, and explain what inspired her to start the Ethical Framework for XR initiative (EF4XR). Its mission? To ensure the most responsible and enriching use of immersive technologies, particularly those that enable (remote) social interactions and collaborations. The framework will include reports and guidelines, drafted on the basis of multidisciplinary research, as well as derivative activities (e.g. ’social experiments’, panels and workshops) aimed at increasing awareness and connecting academics (notably social scientists) with tech companies. With this project, Anna’s goal is to facilitate a well-informed and inclusive debate around ethical XR practices; a topic that has been until now largely neglected by both the industry and regulators.

Digital twins for virtual commissioning and PLC Training
The digital twin, a virtual clone of a physical system, is considered today as a key and disruptive technology of the industry 4.0. It can be used both in the design phase and in the operational phase of the production system. In this presentation, we show how the digital twin can be, on the one hand, a tool for the virtual commissioning of facilities and, on the other hand, a tool for learning about Industry 4.0 in general and PLCs in particular. As such, HOME I/O (virtual house) and FACTORY I/O (virtual factory) developed by Real Games are presented as these "digital twins" are a reference in the field of system engineering training.
